| Obviously it's been a while.
(In no particular order)- Things that are cool in my life right now: Scribblenauts. Episodes of Star Trek in small collections. Not completely sucking at grad school. My nephew with half a heart is 1 and doing awesome. School money. Friends and family.
Things that suck in my life right now: Allergies. Left my wallet at home last weekend, which has interfered with my plans at least 3 times this week. Reading for grad school. Room with no top to the walls. General lack of things to do unrelated to school or in the house. No motivation. Not being in band. No ice cream at the moment. I could go for some.
There. Now you're pretty much up-to-date, right? Maybe I'll write something more substantial or (trying to be) funny. Or I won't write in 6 months again. Something like that.

| My life hasn't been entirely spitting liquid gum all over myself lately.
I've applied to the Master's program in Applied Anthropology here at MSU. Basically I wasn't going to do anything until I had taken my GRE, applied to various schools, saved up enough money to move, and decided I could leave my mom and grandma, both of whom aren't in the best health. However, the solution to all of these problems was MSU. No GRE needed, one application, get to not move for the first time in 5 years, and don't have to leave my family any more than I already have. All my stuff is in order, I just have to turn it in and wait for my letters of recommendation to come in. Oddly enough, one of them will be from Mrs. Herring, my K-3rd grade gifted teacher from Marshfield. I emailed her to tell her about my decision, and she was really excited and wanted to write a letter. I'm not sure if she's a "professional" who "familiar with [my] work" beyond half page reports about snakes and Santa Anna, but when a person like her says it's "an honor" to write a rec, I can't really turn that down.
Also, I've been accepted to the summer archaeological field school here. Not that I beat anyone out, there are still seats available, but still it's a good thing.
My nephew with the half-heart had his second of three surgeries last week. I saw him on Sunday, and aside from the bandages over his scar, I wouldn't have guessed that he had surgery. He's himself. It's really impressive. He likes me, and his favorite toy is a bouncing Tigger that I got him for Christmas. They had to buy him a second one because he likes to chew the tail and short out the circuit, so he has a spare while the other one dries.
Anyway, yeah. No funny story or pictures. I like how things are going.

| Haven't written one of these in a while, and probably no one will read this, but here it goes.
So... there should be a warning on 5 gum. It's really good stuff, don't get me wrong, but today I found out that it has a dark side to it. I was sitting in my second of two classes today.
(I was really much more bored than I look here, and yes, my glasses are crooked.)
I'd been chewing this piece for like an hour and a half or so, probably a little longer. Anyway, by this time it almost had the consistency of liquid, and I wanted to spit it out.
What I failed to consider was its liquidity and so the consequences were:
I don't think many people noticed, but it was still embarrassing. It pretty much was everywhere, including a bit on my hair, and some got on my coat. I got most of it off, but when I went home, I had to shave my soul patch (the little part below the lip) and shower.
Moral: don't chew 5 gum for too long and/or be careful when you spit it out

| It's my birthday.
Probably my first birthday away from home, really. But it was good.

| I should cut off all my hair and make a wig in case for when I go bald.
